Lagos State Goverenment to Deploy 800 Buses at Ikeja Bus Terminal

The Lagos State Government stated on Saturday that 800 buses would be deployed to begin operations at the newly constructed Ikeja Bus Terminal.

The state Commissioner for Transportation who visited the newly constructed terminal also stated that this newly constructed terminal will cater for over four million people transport across the state on a daily basis.

The idea is to cater for Lagos residents especially lower and middle class people who cannot afford a private ride to their various destinations at the moment. also stating "we should be expecting some buses like over 800 that Lagos State Government has procured to kick start operations for the benefit of the residents". Ikeja the state capital has about 900,000 inhabitants.

He also stated that Ikeja Terminal is a major transport hub on the Lagos mainland as it is a major node of very important locations in Nigeria. Ikeja Terminal is constructed to improve efficiency in the road transport connections, reduce traffic congestion caused by loading and alighting of passengers, improve security and safety among residents and also reduce environmental pollution.
